CHAPLAINCY

While we have a ministry for many years now, we also serve as chaplains under the Dominican Republic Assemblies of God (DRAOG). Luis is the Presbyterial Director in charge of chaplaincy in the province of Puerto Plata, while Adeline, along with several other DRAOG ministers, serves as a regular chaplain in other institutions apart from the ones we already minister in.

Chaplaincy in the Dominican Republic is slightly different than elsewhere in the world. A chaplain does not serve only one institute as it is a voluntary position but instead serves in various institutions ministering to the spiritual, and emotional needs of the people, as well as providing social assistance when needed.  Chaplains have uniforms, their own ID cards, and a formal badge much like the police, and the military.

As this is a ministry that is recently being revived within the denomination, we are currently promoting it throughout the province of Puerto Plata, visiting churches to share the vision of reaching out to various governmental and private institutions with the Word of God.  We bring into it our experience of having served governmental institutions for several years and are developing workshops for this ministry on how best to share the Word within a formal, military or professional environment.
